From the editor
The Psalms tell us that “God settles the solitary in a home” (Ps. 68:6) . . . and not just a home but also a family . . . and not only a family but also a church family! In this issue of The Lutheran Witness, we rejoice in the joy, comfort and consolation that we share as the body of Christ, gathered together around His Word and Sacraments.
You’ll laugh along with one pastor as he describes his foray into the strange world of chatting with others in the narthex after church. You’ll hear from another pastor about how we as Christians are given to interact and care for one another, even across generational lines.
You’ll discover how fellow believers joined together under Christ’s forgiveness and grace to complete the work of the Synod in convention in Milwaukee, Wis. And you’ll learn how the Lord’s Supper is a true communion with Christ, as well as all those gathered at His table with you.
God has set you into a family, and “on top of all that,” the Rev. David Petersen explains within these pages, “as part of the Gospel itself, He also comforts and encourages us through ‘the mutual conversation and consolation of brothers and sisters.’” What joy!
