Sharing our faith

I thank God that the Holy Spirit led Kathy Reed (“An Accidental Missionary,” December) to witness to her faith, speaking carefully chosen words in her “difficult situation.”

The prophet Jonah (chapter 1) also faced a difficult situation. After the mariners “each cried out to his god” they confronted Jonah for his action of going into the ship and sleeping–hiding (such as stepping back in a “photo ruse”?). However, as did Kathy Reed, Jonah gave his witness, “I am a Hebrew, and I fear the Lord, the God of heaven who made the sea and the dry land.”

Jonah–missionary to the Ninevites (chapter 3).

Kathy Reed–missionary on the trail to Machu Pichu.

Each Christian–missionary on the pathway of his and her life.

As He did for Kathy Reed, the Holy Spirit will remove our fear, so that each of us will speak a witness to our faith in God and Jesus Christ as soon as the opportunity–or the necessity–arises.
