Themba Girls CD Celebration

LCMS World Relief and Human Care will introduce the new Themba Girls with Erin Bode Group” CD and launch a campaign in support of the Themba Trust at a concert celebration, 8 p.m., April 23, at the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis.

The evening included a performance by St. Louis jazz artist Erin Bode and a video presentation of the Themba Girls choir, recorded in South Africa.  LCMS World Relief and Human Care Executive Director Rev. Matthew Harrison will speak about the ministry’s partnership with Themba, a faith-based organization that strives to bring hope to the lives of poor South African youth.

Dr. Jacob A.O. Preus, president of Concordia University Irvine, Calif., and Bode’s uncle, will be a special guest.  Paul Clayton, of Synod radio station KFUO-AM, will emcee the program.

“Themba is a faithful Lutheran school, and LCMS World Relief is virtually unique worldwide in support of orthodox Lutheran works of mercy,” said Harrison, who conceived the idea for the CD project when he was in South Africa and hear the Thema Girls sing.  “It’s an honor to lend a hand to Themba, and we are so appreciative of Erin Bode.  She is the salt of the earth.”

A limited number of tickets are available for the free concert. (A ticket is required for admission and can be requested at the Web site listed below.)  LCMS World Relief and Human Care will offer a new CD that night for a donation of $25 or more in support of the Themba Trust.  The CD also can be ordered through the Web site.
