Shedding Some Light

It’s the Thought that Counts
After misbehaving and generally making a nuisance of himself all afternoon, young Jason was finally sent to his room for a time-out session. After the session ended, he emerged from his room and informed his mom that he had thought the situation over.

“Then I prayed,” he added.

“Fine,” said Mom, pleased. “If you ask God to help you not misbehave, He will help you.”

“Oh, I didn’t ask Him to help me not misbehave,” Jason replied, “I asked Him to help you put up with me.”

Ask and Ye Shall Receive
On an unusually hot early September Sunday, when all the guests were seated for dinner, a mother asked her 5-year-old son, David, to say the blessing.

“I don’t know what to say,” he protested.

“Just say what you’ve heard me say,” Mom replied, somewhat miffed.

Obediently, David bowed his head and intoned, “Lord, please explain to me why I invited all these people here on a hot day like this. Amen.”
